Hello and welcome to my website.
I am an artist and designer in Textiles and Mixed Media.
I became fascinated by art at an early age which prompted my art and design motivated further education. I explored many disciplines before specialising in Textile Design (BA Hons), which I followed by working as a freelance textile designer creating embellished fabrics for the fashion market with a focus on embroidery.
At present, I work in the mediums of textiles incorporating embroidery and mixed media painting to create original art, prints, garments, accessories and cards.
The eclectic range of mediums I work in are fused by a signature use of atmospheric hues, collage and contrasting areas of muted tones & textural embellishment, to create works which can be abstract or more literal in form.
I am fascinated by texture and the ephemeral changes to light, texture and colour by the elements on our sea and landscapes. I also find inspiration in nature, architecture, decay, all things vintage, aged photographs and nostalgia which I explore through my use of vintage or recycled fabric, haberdashery and paper ephemera.
I record initial inspiration with photography & sketches and allow the manipulation of my chosen medium and a spontaneous approach to develop the finished piece.
